Governance and Working Group

URPX is developed by the URPX Working Group under LF Energy Standards and Specifications (LFESS), a Linux Foundation project. The working group was accepted on November 19, 2025, at the LF Energy Technical Advisory Council meeting; see the URPX project page on lfenergy.org.

How the working group works

  • Working group. Open to anyone: join the mailing list and attend the meetings. Agendas and notes are published in the urpx-wg repository.
  • Committee. Votes on stage promotions and releases. A smaller group than the working group, reachable at urpx-committee@lists.lfenergy.org; membership is requested through the chair after attending a meeting or making a contribution.
  • Chair. Convenes and runs the meetings, coordinates the review and release process, and represents the project toward LF Energy.
  • Maintainers. Review and merge changes to the urpx repository; listed in MAINTAINERS.md.

Day-to-day changes are handled through pull requests reviewed by a maintainer. Structural changes to the ontology, the SHACL shapes or the repository layout require working group discussion first. Stage promotions and the decision to publish are made by the committee and recorded in the meeting minutes. The full text is GOVERNANCE.md; changes to it require working group approval.

Committee members

  • Klaartje De Schepper (Chair and Maintainer), @KlaarDeSchepper
  • David Richardson (@djradon): working group development infrastructure support, including namespace publication through Semantic Flow

Open positions

The working group is looking for people in these roles. Write to chair@urpx.org or raise your hand at a meeting.

  • Committee members from utilities, regulators, retail energy providers and software vendors who publish or consume rate plan data, to review proposals and vote on stage promotions and releases.
  • Maintainers to review and merge changes to the standard's repository.
  • Test-case contributors who bring a utility's published rate plans as test cases, and reviewers who check the resulting URPX data against the source documents.
  • Interoperability liaisons to the standards URPX maps to: Green Button, LF Energy CDS, IEC CIM and schema.org.
  • Implementers building parsers, validators or publishing tools on URPX, whose experience feeds back into the vocabulary and the shapes.
