An open semantic standard for representing and exchanging utility customer rate plan data in a structured, machine-readable format
An LF Energy Project

Utility rate plans are locked in PDFs and proprietary formats — impossible to process automatically or compare across utilities.
URPX defines a shared RDF/OWL ontology that transforms rate plan data into structured, interoperable, machine-readable semantic graphs.
Enables automated rate comparison, accurate bill simulation, DER optimization, and regulatory compliance tooling across the industry.
Built on RDF, OWL 2, and SHACL. Classes, properties, and relationships are formally defined and machine-readable.
Maps to Green Button, LF Energy CDS, IEC CIM, and schema.org. One standard, many integrations.
Community-developed with working group oversight and supported by LF Energy. Published under open licenses: W3C Document License, CDLA-Permissive-2.0 and Apache-2.0 by file category.
URPX was formally accepted as a project supported by LF Energy at the Technical Advisory Council meeting, bringing community infrastructure and visibility to the standard.
